New website!  (Jan 07)

As you can see we have a shiny new website for SageCat Moot. We hope you enjoy it! Thanks to Jeannie and Kevin for developing it for us :o) You are stars! Please bear with us for a while though as we have a bit of tweaking to do. Check back often and let us know what you think.

Great Stuff from 2006!

Our extra special moot in August 06 with members of the Lakota Tribe ~ John Listen to the Wind and Dave Ride the wind was a great success ;o) we had seventy two folk show up for it and we thank every single one of you for helping out by being there. The stalls were great too.

MootCamp 2006

Moot Camp July 2006 went very well. A good time was had by all again and with lovely weather this year too. The flies were a bit of a nuisance though. Our first handfasting was the big event on the Saturday with Kerry and Ian making a commitment to each other. Nehellania's Hearth on the beach went down very well and attracted some attention from a passing seal.

We will be going to Waxham Sands again in 2007 but it will probably be in August this time.

Magical Fair News

The 2006 Magical Autumn Fair was a great success raising two hundred pounds for 'Wild Lives' charity. Our next fair will not be until December the 8th 2007 and will be named the 'Magical Winter Fair'. We will be taking stall bookings from January 2007 please email Nat for info.

Happy 7th Anniversary SageCat Moot!

On the 28th of October 2006 we celebrated our seventh anniversary of the moot with a party. It was attended by just under one hundred folk who came out in brilliant costumes to celebrate with us and we had the band 'Workhouse' and caller for entertainment.

Our October moot fell on the exact day of the anniversary (31st October 2006) and we had a very busy night with 'Dark Goddess night' comprising of two talks, a pathworking, pumpkin carving competition, raffle and a SageCircle ritual. Thanks to all of you for supporting the moot for another year!

Yule Ritual 2006

A huge thank you to Karen and Martin for letting us hold it at the farm again. The freezing fog didn't put off the hard core moot folk from attending and as usual the food was a delight. I think we were all impressed that the fireworks went so well too.

EAMM! Conference 2nd June 2007!

The East Anglia Mega Moot took place on the 2nd of June 2007,10am-11:00pm. We kept the entrance fee as low as possible '£3.50'. There was a great turn out of around eighty fab folk. Five talks, eight stalls, a discussion group where we all had our say and an evening of entertainment. There was something for everyone!

Di Firmin talking about 'The changing face of paganism' was great as usual and focused on paganism in the media and how it has changed over forty years. Nick Ford's talk 'WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? Spiritual & Social Dislocation in Post -Imperial Britain' Went down very well and gave us all something to think about. I particularly enjoyed the way he worked in the discovery of the Mildenhall treasure! Jenny Blain speaking on 'Seidr, Shamanism and Heathenry' was spellbinding and very informative. Pointing out the importance of the sacred landscape in our religion. Steve Pollington's talk about 'Leechcraft' was very well done. He pointed out some interesting connections with snakes  and gods that I am going to have to research and meditate on! Robin Herne talking on 'Egyptian Myth' was as usual educational and easy to digest... which is good for me as I know little of Egyptian stuff. Discussion group led by Terry Smith was on the topic of the way forward. Almost everyone agreed that we should celebrate our diversity and see it as a strength. Moots and groups should concentrate on their community and carry on networking and making paganism known and respected in the wider community.

After a break for dinner we came back for the social and raffle followed by a fantastic performance by Paul Mitchell (see links area for his website) and some poetry and song by Jenny, Jez and Nick. Not to mention copious amounts of cider and beer. All in all the event went brilliantly and we may be planning another for next year!             In Frith, T

Outings for 2007

The trip to Sutton Hoo was in September. It was a blazing hot Saturday, probably the best one this summer. We met at 10am in the car park and spent a good few hours going round the museum looking at the displays and finds from the site. The British museum had loaned the purse lid for the summer. After a cup of tea or in my case a bottle of water we walked around to two woodland trails around the mounds and back to the car park, this took about an hour and a half. It was such a lovely day that we then went to a local pub and sat in the garden to have a late lunch....

If you have any ideas for moot outings for 2008 please let us know.

8th Moot Anniversary Party Oct 07

The fancy dress was a Scottish theme. That gave you all plenty of ideas and your costumes were great :o) The Roman soldier with his own Hadrian's wall was fun and some of the graffiti that was left on it was shocking!!! The Jock twins were hilarious and the perfect Scot and Rab C Nesbitt well deserved to win the costume competition.

The doors opened at 7pm and the band were a bit late starting as the caller and drummer were involved in a car accident on the way but they still made it and played a good couple of sets. It went on until 12:30 and was a blast!
