*BOOK REVIEW*
‘The Way of Wyrd’ By Brian Bates
I found this book a fascinating read and could not put it
down and I encourage you all to read it. It’s about a
young Christian scribe sent to learn about the
mysterious Heathen ways of pagan England. His guide
is an Anglo-Saxon sorcerer and he is truly in for the
most spiritual time of his life!
I found the book historically accurate and very well
written and unlike so many heathen interest books it
was not dry at all. There is plenty of information in it
but it is written as a story. It will keep you on the edge of
your seat and then make you laugh. This book is good
for all levels and types of pagan and helps to even out
the flood of Celtic and new age material that you get all over the place with some good old fashioned Germanic spirituality.
This book is going to be one that I re-read often. So if you
would like an insight into the powerful landscape of
Pagan Anglo- Saxon England get this book.
Sorry, you can’t borrow mine as it’s on my *never lend out* book list :o)
There is even a website for Way of Wyrd, It’s well worth a look so check it out on your PC; http://www.wayofwyrd.com/
Quote from site;
“When Brian Bates first published The Way of Wyrd in 1983 little was known outside academic circles about Anglo Saxon spirituality. The Way of Wyrd brings this rich and ancient way of being to life in both an accessible and profound way. This site has been designed to accompany the book and will give you even more information about all things ‘Wyrd’”
